well, I don’t think anyone can diagnose you online. we can only suggest what we might think it could be.
If you aren’t feeling any pain, then it’s not likely that it was the yoga that is causing the popping you are experiencing now, I believe. It may have something to do with the joint fluid that lubricates your joints. It may actually help you to do yoga to strengthen the area in your hips.
The popping in your yoga was probably a normal popping, it happens when air gets trapped between the joints and pops out. It often happens when people go into triangle pose, I’ve noticed.
Sometimes our joints pop more than others. I myself don’t know what brings this on, I just know I’ve had periods where I just seem to pop all the time, and now I don’t seem to pop at all. I am thinking perhaps my yoga practice has helped prevent this.
here is a website that explains some about joint popping sounds: http://www.loc.gov/rr/scitech/mysteries/joint.html
Here is another website that speaks directly about hip popping: http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/otherhip/a/snappinghip.htm
I believe this is something I myself experienced, and was experiencing it during the first 6 months or so of my yoga practice. It has disappeared completely now, and as stated above, I believe it is due to my practice pulling my body into correct alignment.
So I’d say if it doesn’t hurt, then you might do yoga to alleviate the annoyance of the popping. It will also strengthen the hips so you don’t become injured easily as well.
